PHOTO & VIDEO DIARY: NARRA HILL

I was looking for new but not so mainstream and crowded places to explore for when I come home to the Philippines for a few days off. My dear friend Leslie shared one of her secret hideouts and recommended this wonderful bed & breakfast and events venue. (Unfortunately one of the caretakers told us it’s wedding day so we were not able to check the events place and the gardens before we left. 😦 It looked so lovely in the photos on their website though.) Leslie, being the sweet and thoughtful friend that she is, helped us book (through Airbnb) the best room, the Balcony Room.  They have a total of 4 rooms. I couldn’t wait to bring more friends after we peeked into the Kubo 1 suite. It has 2 bed rooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen and sala. It’s a perfect barkada getaway.

It was my first Airbnb experience and I love how everything went so smoothly. I would also like to thank Ms. Cristy, Narra Hill’s manager for being so warm and accommodating to us, sending us reminders a couple of days before. She even shared some of her hiking experiences in Bataan with us before we left. She’s a very good host. We felt so at home.

If you’re looking for a quiet time alone, away from the fast-paced world, Narra Hill is the place to be.

HOW I: DEAL WITH STRESS

I’ve been so stressing about a lot of things lately. When I am stressed I tend to stop whatever I’m doing and try to clear my mind from anything (and stress-eat of course – i just bought 3  ice cream sticks) to prevent messing things up even more. I know I can’t avoid stress. I just need to learn how to cope with it. I decided to make this blog entry to help myself de-stress, believe me, I’m no expert, I’m the worst. I just messaged Mozart saying that I need a hug so bad because I’m so stressed out and that it’s already showing on my face.. The common steps to deal with stress are: 1. getting enough sleep 2. eating properly 3. staying organized 4. stop worrying about something you can’t change 5. meditation and yoga (badly needed) 6. ask help from loved ones. I can’t promise myself that I can do all those steps but I have my own way of dealing with it. I worry way too much. Even the smallest things. When I was in elementary, I used to write all my problems on the last page of my notebook. I do this when I feel like I’ve reached the dead end. And opposite my list, I would write “when” will each problem be solved. I don’t know, it makes me feel a bit better. I makes me feel that those difficult times are not permanent. So I’ve decided to make one right now.

Here’s what got into my list:

Disclaimer: This isn’t a “how-to” post. More like a rant-post.

INSTANT MEMORIES: MERMAID TALES

Ever since Mozart got me my pink Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 for my birthday last 2013, I have captured tons of moments on film. I was reorganizing my photo wall when I decided to make a “layout” and take photos of my “polaroids” by category. Nothing special. I just like arranging pretty things, taking photos of it (and compiling it).

And here it is,  from an impromptu “shoot” to a new photo series for my blog.

CHARMAINE for DUMMIES: An Attempt to Understand Me

Do you feel like you always have to explain yourself to people? Do you fear being misunderstood? If you do, we are in this together. I don’t actually care if people hate me, I just want people to hate me (or like me) as accurate as possible. Unfortunately, I kinda suck at explaining.

If there’s one word I can identify with so much, it would be “INTJ”. If you have read my Reintroducing Myself blog post, you have probably encountered it.  INTJ stands for Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging. It is one of the psychological types of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). I have taken a few personality tests and THIS is the result I got. (Click HERE if you also want to know your personality type.)

Here are the signs I can TOTALLY relate to:

REINTRODUCING MYSELF

I want to think of this new blog as a continuation of my old one. I am still that person, or at least some parts of it. I also want to introduce some new parts of me. I thought the easiest way to introduce yourself when you don’t know where to start is to answer random questions. Below is a random questionnaire I found on the internet.. Read more ›
